After 12 hours in a car driving across three states, your ass is so numb that it could probably just fall off and you wouldn’t notice.

Tbh I would just get out around hour five and make a home in whatever layby I ended up in

@saxifraga-x-urbium Even weirder is that Americans are either two people: 1. Must never stop driving, not even to pee, just to cut like 15 minutes off of the estimated driving time 2. Get out every hour to see the sights even if you’re driving through absolute buttfuck nowhere

I am that first type. It’s a problem when the family I’m seeing is a three-hour drive away. At least they know we’ll need to use the bathroom.

  • the constitution is comparable to the Bible. read as if it was written by God, and is oftentimes considered indisputable 
  • the flag is an idol in which people literally pledge their allegiance to
  • patriotic anthems = hymns
  • the military itself is a treated like a priest class; the “laypeople” are expected to display the utmost respect for their pure existence.
  • indoctrination of children
  • displays of patriotism determines how “faithful” the individual is
  • presence of nationalism at different events (such as sports games, festivals, schools etc…) eerily resembles a theocracy
  • when someone chooses not to partake in a patriotic ritual, they are considered a heretic

silent lunches were so….weird. like the entire cafeteria was expected to be quiet and it usually was a punishment for something super dumb tbh like i remember a bunch of kids popped plastic bags one day so we got silent lunch for a week and everyone was just….sitting there all quiet. it was duuuumb

the only funny part tho was sitting around ur friends and all of u trying VERY VERY HARD not to laugh when someone makes a face or something like that, or trying to sneak into the bathroom so u can talk…even then tho fuck silent lunches

ppl keep going “what the FUCK is a silent lunch why would schools have that” and im like. genuinely so forgetful abt the fact that silent lunches are one of those american public school things that literally dont make any sense

It’s not a midwest thing. We had them in Florida and IIRC in South Carolina. (I mean I was quiet anyways so no skin off my back buttttt….)
