some people’s blogs are being incorrectly flagged as being explicit so if you would like to check your status, you can look it up on postlimit.com.
if you have been incorrectly marked as nsfw, you can appeal before tumblr permanently filters you as such and your blog is set back to default settings prior to december 18th here.
As someone not involved in the development of pillowfort but am a web developer, I think you should lower your expectations, but not for the reason you think.
Pillowfort is a baby. A newborn. A smol bab. If you were here during the early days of Tumblr, think of that.
Pillowfort simply cannot be the immediate solution to your woes. It needs to be nurtured and cared for to become a mature and happy adult.
If you want Pillowfort to work, they’ll need feedback, advice, bug reports, etc. This is a chance to make Pillowfort the Ao3 of Fanfiction.net. It’s not gonna happen overnight, you need to give it time and love and it’ll get there.
If you don’t want to pay money to get into the beta, that’s ok. It will be open to the public soon enough and you won’t have to pay a dime. Their financial model moving forward sounds good (a subscription fee for super extra features), but even an Ao3 model would work swell for them probably.
We’re living in an interesting time on the internet. Governments across the world are cracking down on content and yet community run websites are starting to thrive more and more.
Tumblr once upon a time was what Pillowfort is today, but this time, let’s make sure Pillowfort can stay independent from mega corporations.
Be good to the bab, so one day the bab can be good to you.
raise your babs well and you won’t get put in a old folks home that smells like pee.
This is an important thing to think about. If we want fandom spaces, we have to help care for them – with content, yes, but they’re going to need money and community support to thrive independently. They’re going to need people willing to be patient when they stumble.
While there’s ultimately no guarantee any community won’t eventually be sold off to a corporation, we can make it a lot less likely to happen by a) giving it a feasible way to support itself and b) not being absolute assholes to the team behind it.
now that having basically any image in your posts places you at risk of getting flagged for “sensitive content” by the new algorithms, we’re just going have to start posting our reaction images in text format
What I don’t understand is why everyone is taking this latest development lying down, as if it were inevitable. People should be raising hell. Tumblr needs to know that it has crossed a line.
Write to @staff and tell them that they have made a decision that will if not bury them then greatly diminish the viability of their future, as they have shattered the trust that allowed users to be themselves online.
Don’t abandon the communities you have worked to create; fight to make sure they remain.
Like. I’m a firm believer that porn online shouldn’t be within kids reach (those “are you 18” checkboxes for life) but. Like. Ok first of all, just ban cp? It’s not hard? Cp is what got you into this mess just ban it. Second of all, you could increase the age of sign-up from 13 to 18. Third of all, you could do what deviantart does and just. Require birthdays at sign-up. If your blog is flagged as nsfw, you can’t interact with minors. You want to follow an nsfw blog? Prove you’re an adult. You’re an adult but don’t want to see nsfw content? Safe search (that actually works).
It’s not hard to make a functioning website, but staff doesn’t seem to want to do that.
in the light of the newest tumblr purge, a lot of sfw content has been unjustly flagged by tumblr as explicit. all of us are here sharing the screenshots of this small dick energy. if you see a post that has been wrongfully tagged, take the time to shoot the OP a quick message (or send them an ask if they have their DMs closed) and link them the post you saw because while staff said they’d be notifying the OPs if their post got flagged, it’s not happening to all of us. my edits, for example, got flagged on accident and I didn’t get an email. I would have never known had I not seen a screenshot of my gifs. please help your creators out in this dumbass time.
Please let me know if you see any of my stuff flagged. I do not post NSWF content but in the last tumblr purge some of my stuff got tagged as “sensitive content”.
Please get rid of the pornbots, the CP, and the nazi blogs.
Please let the people who want to post erotic adult content do so.
Please hire a slew of non-racist, non-antisemitic, non-homophobic, non-transphobic human beings to manage this change rather relying on whatever it is you’re using now. Both your current policy and your approach to implementing it are deeply flawed.
You’re not just going to lose the people who post erotic content, you’re going to lose all of their have-no-interest-in-porn friends who are going to leave in protest as well.
Tumblr wants to take away all adult content on the platform, abandoning a large majority of it’s userbase which uses the site for this exact matter. Please sign the above petition if you would like to keep tumblr the way it is. They need to be shown that they will lose a HUGE amount of their traffic if they’re too carry this through.
idk if it will do anything, but I did sign. In 3 hours nearly 5,000 people have responded to this.
A lot of us don’t want to lose our rights to nsfw artwork. I know I don’t, considering this is my only source of income right now. I run the very real and very scary risk of going completely broke and struggling, as I already am.
